This in-home family session has stayed with me in such a quiet, meaningful way.

I was invited into another photographer’s home just after she welcomed twins, and from the start she was clear, she didn’t want anything posed or polished. She wanted images that felt like real life. The kind of moments that make up their days right now.

Some engagement sessions feel less like a photo shoot and more like an honest glimpse into a couple’s everyday life and Elaine and Sam’s winter engagement session in Madison, Wisconsin was exactly that.

For this fall engagement session in Milwaukee, Wisconsin we began in one of their favorite neighborhoods. I always love when couples choose locations that feel familiar. There’s an ease that comes with it. A comfort.

Some wedding days are full and loud and fast.
And some are quiet, slow, and incredibly intentional.

Zoe and Max’s day at The Lageret in Wisconsin was the latter and it was one of those days that reminds you how beautiful it can be when couples truly give themselves permission to be present and slow things down.

Cathy and John’s Chicago wedding was such a beautiful balance of intention and celebration. Wedding portraits at Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum with Ben and Sarah felt timeless in the quietest, most meaningful way. Overlooking Lake Michigan, the stone terraces, gardens, and old-world architecture created a setting that felt both romantic and grounding, the kind of place that invites you to slow down and simply be together. Their portraits were shaped by gentle movement, soft light, and the beauty of a space that doesn’t ask for much beyond presence. Villa Terrace is one of those rare Milwaukee locations where wedding portraits feel elevated yet deeply personal.

Bridget and Tyler’s engagement session in Chicago was one of those sessions that just felt really really aligned. From the very beginning, Bridget had such a clear vision for what she wanted from the style, to the locations, to the overall feeling and at the same time, she had so much trust in me to bring it to life. That balance is truly a photographer’s dream, and it made the whole experience feel collaborative in the best way.

There is something incredibly special about wedding days that feel deeply personal , not performative, not for show but thoughtfully built around the people, places, and moments that matter most. Madison and Doston’s wedding day at the Dousman House in Praire Du Chien, Wisconsin was exactly that.

Kate and Adam had recently moved into their mid-century modern home in Duluth, and when we began talking about their maternity session, it felt natural to start there before moving to one of their favorite places along Lake Superior. A beach they’ve spent countless days at together.
